Experience
Hello and welcome to my website! My name is Ms. Zaragoza and I am a Special Day 
Classroom (SDC) teacher. This school year I am teaching 6th grade science and math as well as 7th grade history. This is my second year teaching at Griffith and fourth year teaching overall. However, I was a Special Education Assistant with LAUSD for 12 years prior to becoming a teacher and that allowed me to gain experience in many different classroom environments and settings. While I did not attend any LAUSD schools myself, I am a proud product of the public school system. I attended
Montebello Unified School District schools and graduated from Schurr High School. After high school, I attended Rio Hondo Community College where I spent many years growing as as a student and as an individual. In May 2020 I graduated from Cal State LA having earned my BA in Urban Learning and teaching credential in mild to moderate disabilities.Teaching Philosophy
I believe that in order for children to learn and grow, they must feel safe in their learning environment. I strive to make my students feel valued, safe, and welcomed in the classroom. My goal is always to create a classroom community in which mistakes are welcomed and where students feel safe to take risks. I value community, growth, helping others, honesty, and respect and I hope that is evident in my classroom and my practice. When I am not at work, I am with my two daughters. One is 7-years-old and the other is 1, so they keep me plenty busy! We have an American Bully named Horchata, who is the sweetest. When I can, I enjoy hiking with friends. My favorite season is Fall, not just because of the weather, but because it means football season is back. 
I am a huge fan of the sport and enjoy watching it at home with family and friends. Go Steelers!
